Do any of the new versions of PI support .eps files better? I'm reluctant to upgrade to v. 11 at this point due to all the problems people are reporting in this forum.

I'm using PI 8. Sometimes I can open .eps files, but most of the time I can't. Sometimes I can import a vector image/object from an .eps file (using the technique described by MaryLouW in this thread: http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=715), sometimes I can't.
