Video truncated

Post by kuriakose »

Hi,

I imported DV from camcoder then split scenes, inserted still images, adjusted audio volume, etc. Duration of the project is now 42 minutes. When I create a VCD or DVD, it is getting truncated to 35 minutes, i.e., ends after 35 minutes.

I took a smaller project which is 13 minutes. I have the same issue when DVD or VCD is created. It is truncated to 11 minutes.

I see about 16% of the movies is truncated at the end.

I spent hours and hours redoing it. Each time it takes several hours to render it, and finally get this crap. I am frustrated.

Any idea what is going on here or any known workarounds?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

What do you think the answer would be if you turned up at a motor mechanics without your car, and told him "My car stopped before I got to my destination. What's wrong with it?" He would want a hell of a lot more information, that's what! What are the properties of your video? Where did you capture it from? What was your work flow? Have you even read the Recommended Procedures in the top sticky post on this Board? What are your computer specifications, including operating system?

Here is all the information that I can think of.

Computer: IBM thinkpad, Pentium Mobile 1.6 GHz, 512 MB RAM, Firewire
DVD Drive: Sony DRX-720UL external, 16X
Free disk space: 20 GB internal, 120 GB external (USB 2.0)
Software: VS9

Video Source: Sony digital camcoder DCR-TRV900
Source Format: NTSC, 4:3, 720x480

Capture method: Firewire
Capture format: DV Type 1, DV (AVI Files),
NTSC 4:3, 29.97 fps, 24 bits, 720x480,
DV audio, 32 khz, 12 bit, stereo

Output: DVD-NTSC, 4:3
MPEG files
24 Bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
Lower Field First
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 6000 kbps)
Audio data rate: 256 kbps
Dolby Digital Audio, 48 KHz, 2/0(L,R)

I read the VS9 user guide (218 page, dated March 2005) and followed the instructions.

I also searched and read as much as possible in this forum as well as on the internet.

Here is my update. I don't know why some part at the end of the project is getting truncated while directly creating DVD.
Finally I decidd to create a video file, then brun my DVD using Nero, and worked fine.
Nero also has a video editor, and seems comparable to VS.

Thank you,

Ken,

Do you have to be so rude?

Sorry. I had not intended to be rude -- and had inserted the smiling emoticon to soften things. But just imagine what it is like for a lot of us, who spend literally hours on this Board trying to help out, and we get the same questions over and over, indicating the persons asking them did not do a search since the answer is often there just a few days earlier. And many posts just don't contain any information. There is now another 'sticky' at the top of this Board, asking people to both search and provide as much information as possible when posting. But I guess they don't read that either!
