sjj1805,
Talk about process of elimination. I have many dvd-ram disks recorded
from a panasonic dvd recorder (all non-copyrighted home vhs stuff or TV).
Record all the time to the panasonic unit.
I was always getting the copy protection error while importing the ram-disk so I always used the work-around of copying to harddisk or remapping. Usually remapping the drive was the least time-consuming.
Recently installed a triple format burner made by "Maddog Multimedia" that also reads/writes to dvd-ram.
The ram-disks now import without any error or hesitation.
I figured it was worth a try since maybe the error was actually coming from the firmware in the dvd reader (lite-on unit). Nero 7 was also giving me the same error as MF4 for importing -VR disks written on dvd-ram.
For me installing the triple format unit has been worth it. Usually I stay away from non-brand name burners. The burner is NOT made in china.
Hope this helps,
MD

Hi everybody, and DMF4 support. I'm really tired trying to solve this issue, and I think I need some kind of support. I was using the Trial version, without problems, with my small 1.4 Gb DVD's recorded using my Sony Handycam DVD-92E.
Everything works well, and even I made several DVD's importing my small DVD's.
So I decided to switch to the full version. I removed the Trial version. I removed all the files. I removed files in Program files\Common Files, I also remove files, in Document and Settings\All users\Program Data\Ulead Systems, and also Document and Settings\UserX\Program Data\Ulead Systems, I removed all registry keys under SOFTWARE Key called Ulead, and Ulead Systems.
Then I installed the full version. When finished I tried to import a DVD and I get the VIO playback Report ID: 2394 error.
After several days installing and uninstalling it looks like something is wrong and there is no way to turn it back to the original state. So I'm not able to use the program to do anything.
I also installed the last Service Pack 4.04 published in Ulead Website.
So? ...
Still there isn't a fix about this? What I'm missing?
Ulead Sirs???? What's happening here? Take a look to the forum, there are a lot of uses with this issue.
Please give us a solution. Format my notebook, or desktop is not the choice.
Thanks.

Did you give this a try?sjj1805 wrote:OK Then try this
Please copy all the files of the following folder into the DVD MovieFactory installed folder.
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems\MPEG
Steve J
The purpose of this move is that sometimes your Windows PATH statement fails to point to the files at the above location.

Copy the Common Files\Mpeg files into DVD MovieFactory 4 installation folder didn't fix anything.
The problem happens again.
The only thing I guess could happening, because I removed all files, and also registry keys before full package installation, is a class registry key that exists due to trial installation still remains in registry when full package installation. Then new classes weren't overwritten, because for InstallShield if a key exists it is not overwritten.
As a resume some missing information for VIO driver is required to make it preview work.
In my case when preview fails, I can import but I can't hear anything. In fact it says Dolby Digital with 1 Channel, instead Dolby Digital 2.0 as my Handycam records.
Ora could you send me by private message the explanation that support told you about trying to clean the installation.
But I think this method still is not good either.
Thanks anyone for your support but Ulead should do.

Well SOLVED!!!!
As I guessed, I think I was in true.
1. I uninstalled DVD MovieFactory.
2. Reboot.
3. Regedit.
Then from My Computer icon within regedit tree, search for Ulead string.
Remove every classes and keys which still contains references to Ulead files.
As I guessed there are the same classes registry keys several times, and several of them are corresponding to the trial version, which have the same name, but maybe with different parameters.
After removing all found classes, I found several keys called UDVDxxxx, UlDVDxxx, and other more. I removed them also.
Afterthat I found more references to other keys, concerning to several dll's entry points.
4. Once finished with regedit, install again.
5. Check for DVD Import. In my case now it works!!!
Now I'm going to make a restore point, and afterthat I will install Extra Contents, and afterthat, the Patch 4.04.
I will keep you informed.
Thanks everyone, but ULEAD for your support.

Latas,
In your handycam it sounds like you've been recording to dvd-r or
dvd-rw either in dvd-video mode or the -VR mode.
If your cam supports dvd+rw (which should be the +VR mode).
Can you try recording in that mode. You have to record to a dvd+rw
to do this on the handycam for the +VR format.
The +VR format is the only format I've had trouble importing with update 4.04.
When you check the box the properties will say +VR mode (before hitting import).
I think I've found the cause of that problem.
