UGRENT: can't uninstall videostudio 6 SE

Post by DonNagual »

Hello, and thanks in advance for any help.

Unfortunately ulead's knowledge database is offline, and they don't have a phone number on their site to contact them.

You guys are my only hope!

I am trying to get my new capture card working, however videostudio 6E is conflicting with it. I went to add/remove programs and uninstalled it but it stays in the add/remove program list showing about 5Mb of files remaining AFTER uninstall.

I then MANUALLY uninstalled it by deleting all the files I could find from ulead, and then running a reg cleaner on my system to get rid of the registry files.

Still having problems. The program is showing up in the add/remove programs and can not be uninstalled.

HELP!!!! I really want to get my new capture card up and running, but it won't let me encode anything at the moment.

You can clean up the add/remove programs list by installing tweakui from this site
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/down ... rtoys.mspx

But... before doing that, if you simply try to install it, the fact it is in the add/remove programs list already will not affect a fresh install. In fact another way to remove a program from that list is to install it again and then uninstall.

I did try that actually. I reinstalled it first, then tried to uninstall it and was unable to. I also tried the "repair" followed by uninstall and was still unable to. I received an email from tech support with a walkthrough on editing out the registry entries, but I have a feeling that we simply erased the listing from the "uninstall program" listing. I think there are still files lurking in the dark, but I suppose only a reinstallation of windows can be 100%.

Thanks for the tips all! Much appreciated.
