True or Not True Re: DVD Mini Video

Post by maximus01can »

Okay, I've copied all the video clips onto my HD from Sony Mini DVD camera. The question is can I edit any of it using Video Studio 7? As you can see the Audio is AC-3. When I inserted an video clip into VS7 the video played fine, but no sound. What's the verdict? Do I have to upgrade to VS9?

Video:
Format:24 Bits, [720x480]
NTSC DVD, Field B, Variable Bit Rate 9000 (Didn't get all this info on the Capture but I know it was 9000kbs?)
Comp Ratio: 33%
Frame Rate: 29.970 Frames/Sec
Audio:
Format: AC-3 Audio
Attributes: 48000 Hz

Thanks Much,

See my reply to your other post. VS7 cannot handle the Dolby AC-3 sound.

Yes, I believe you will have to upgrade to VS9 i.e. I don't know of any utilities that will separate the sound and then allow conversion from Dolby.

Support for Dolby came in with VS8 (as a "expensive" add-on) and in the base distribution of VS9.
