Hey all -
just downloaded the MF4 demo, then bought a license.
Trying to upgrade to the new patches, and no matter which one I use (1, 2, or 3) I get an error stating "Movie Factory 4 is not installed on your system" but it is.
Do I need to reinstall?

Did you install the full version? Not sure if the trial allows for the insertion of a license key.
I would completely uninstall the trial, delete the installation files and purge the temp folders, then, after a re-boot, install the downloaded full version. I have always done it that way and have never had an issue like that although I use numerous ULEAD programs.

I cannot upgrade
I have Movie Factory 4 Suite Deluxe. I installed it from a CD included with my DVD burner that I purchased. I cannot get it to update and I get the same error message as the above user. Anyone have an idea or can tell me what the hell I am doing wrong? I am trying to update the patch not my version.

Suite Deluxe is one of the SE versions that come with the device, and you cannot apply the latest update pack to any SE versions (as stated in the Update Packs page).

I think the original poster is talking about this upgrade http://www.ulead.com/store/dmf/upgrade.htm which clearly states it will work with the SE versions. I purchased this upgrade because I was using moviefactory 2se and I'm getting the same error when I download from the link. Any thoughts?

Again, I've downloaded the trial. Through the trial interface, I purchased a license. It's a "full" version now. However, the patches do not work, since they see it as the "tbyb" version.
Frankly, I'm dissapointed with ULead and the lack of response from technical support is pathetic. Over a week now. Multiple emails, messages, nothing.

First of all, why should I have to jump through so many hoops to run this frickin' software? Second, the issue is that ULead (or ULast) has not provided a complete and full version. All they've done is taken $100 to unlock a trial version that can't be patched.
Thank you for the tips - but again, I never got a full download. I never got a link. I can't seem to get a response from this company. If someone can share a link, that would be great, and this problem is solved. I have my purchased license - just need the software I paid for.

I do agree with your attitude and dis-satisfaction with Ulead. It seems to be well established that their installation process leaves remnants of the trial installation and results in conflicts.
I can say that I have no problems with my installation. Doesn't help you I know, but my copy works entirely as expected.

Contact element 5 and tell them to refund your money or whatever you want to do.
You can buy the MF4 retail disk or order the package which it's always
best to have the retail original CD.
With the updates the program works well on my machine.
