Crashing/program freeze-up- adding transitions for slides
I encountered an issue with Pictureshow 4 when adding transitions for every picture in the show. While I am able to add some transitions, the program will freeze up and the following message appears:
"The instruction at 0x07001464 referenced memory at 0x070b207c. The memory could not be read. Click ok to terminate."
I can add some slides, and as long as I save the project after a adding a few transitions, close out of the project and program, and then open up the project again I am able to add transitions.
Has any encountered this issue when adding transitions to all photos? Any fixes?
Thanks
Beth

I to have this issue
Actually I don't quite get it.
I to have this problem occur somewhat randomly, or at least it appears to be.
I work away adding transitions, and then custom pans, move on to the next slide, etc. , occasional test run to see if the effects are as I desire and after 15 min or so the memory error screen appears and lockup software.
I have to shut down PS4.0 and restart and all the last work I have done is lost.
To solve the problem I have turned to working for 5-10min then saving the file, then going back in and continuing.
So, if I read this advise given, my problem is related to me clicking tasks in PS4.0 too quickly and not hesitating somewhat before moving to the next task.
If this is so, then the software is flawed, pointing and clicking should not create an environment were memory overloads occur.
One thing that is missing with this software is there is no switch to set for automatic saving, or backup of file as you are working along. It is quite easy to get deep into your project and forget the time and soon you have worked for 30min or more without saving.
cheers

do you think increasing the swap file could help? it seems the more element the project has the longer it took the program to load. in my experience, this is common in WinXP where a program tends to stall for a moment (where its actually doing something) and clicking on it (sometimes while the mouse pointer is busy) causes the program to display the "not responding" error on the title bar.
I usually wait for it to finish although I admit it sometimes takes a while.
another thing that I do is to increase the CPU priority of the DPS4 executable. i do this if only DPS is running and no other utils/progs are in the background.
open the task manager and go to Process. right click on the program exe and set the Priority to "Above Normal" or "High". Never set it to "Realtime" because it can totally lockup the computer because other processes are not given enough CPU priority.
hope this helps.

This fix sounds scary but I will try it.
I downloaded the patch and installed. I am still having the issue of crashing as I build the show, I am even working carefully and slowly but sometimes it just crashes out of nowhere. Quite frankly this is a huge problem that needs to be fixed, FREE and ASAP.
On another front, the patch, I don't know what it did, but I finally successfully burned my long and complicated show and its wonderful product to behold. So the end result is great but getting there is very frustrating.
As always, thanks for the advice.

How do you increase the swap file?
Forgot to ask, how do you increase the swap file?
