capture program doesn't "see" my date and time
I installed VS9 and connected my camera sony dcr 350e to computer. The VS9 capture program doesn't "see" my date and time ( i "see" the movie) . Do i need set up my camera or set up vs9 ?

you probably need to supply more information. Are you referring to the timecode, or time and date stamps on the video footage?
If it's the latter, these used to be imprinted onto the video by analogue camcorders.
With my MiniDV camcorder, however, I have an option of turning on or off time and date display during playback. This information is not imprinted on the video (otherwise I couldn't turn it off) and can not be captured.
I have to add titles with the time or date as needed in my videos.

The date and time of original recording is shown in the information panel under the preview screen while capturing.
To view the information while editing go to "File >> Preferences" and put a tick in the box against "Display DV code on Preview Window" at the bottom of the preferences dialogue window.
OR just hover your mouse cursor over the thumbnail in your library and after a second or so a box will appear with the recording date in it.
Then use that information to make sub-titles that you can place on screen any where you want them
