Help fitting movie on dvd+rw

Hi i just bought 5 tdk dvd+rw . I tried using the straight to dvd option from my panasonic mini dv camcorder to the dvd+rw and it only taped 1hr and 20 min. the dvd say good for home movies and can handle up to 6 hours why can't i fot this on the dvd? do i need to adjust something or is there no way to fit a 2 hour home movie.? thanks for any answers

1hr 20 mins is probably about right for full DVD quality on a single layer disk. You can squeeze more on with a loss of quality. 2 hrs should fit whilst remaining watchable. (Depends how critical you are). You will need to read/capture the camera media (depending if tape or disk) into a DVD project. Then in the burn phase you will have the opportunity to compress the project to fit it on a single disk.

thanks so much i thought i was going crazy. the dvd's say 6 hours.
