Post by Alleluia »

I have installed VS 9... and am able transfer images and sound from my Sony Camcorder TRV 208E (Analog) to my PC. :P
However, I am now trying to play a DVD using Windows Media Player and
I am getting pictures but no sound.
By loading VS has this alterred a setting for playing my DVD's?
Is there anyone out there who can help?
Many thanks

Have you any dedicated DVD playing software such as PowerDVD and if so have you tried playing it with that.

What version of Windows Media Player are you using, I dont think the earlier versions play DVD without pinching codecs from DVD playing software such as PowerDVD.

The DVD is it one you made, what sound format did you use
LCPM, AC3 (Dolby), MPEG Audio or is it a commercial one and did it play before?

I have Media Player Version10. It was fine before using ULEAD product.
I don't have PowerDVD.

I have a LITEON DVD-ROM LTD 163 drive.
My Display is NVIDEIA GeForce2 MX
Multimedia is Creative SB Live

I'm sorry I did not give more information with my query.

The DVD I was trying to play was a freeby from The Times... Howards end.... DVD Dolby Digital
It has played before.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Further to my previous message..
on my PC's Windows XPvideo Decoder Checkup Utility it shows:
Ulead DVD Video decoder 2 (ulDVDVideo.ax Vers 2.0.0.19)
and Ulead MPEG Video Decoder (uldsmpeg.ax Vers 1.0.0.73)
are not compatible with the synchronization features of windows Media Player 10. It is not recommended that these decoders are set as the preferred decoders. These 2 decoders are shown with an X against them.
The dialog box does show CyberLink video/SPDecoder (CLVSD.ax Vers 6.0.0.827) is compatible and this is shown with a tick against it.

Maybe that ULEAD VS has caused aproblem and I now have to reload the Cyberlink Video /SP Decoder again. What do you think?
Surely, I don't have to do this each time I change form using ULEAD VS to Windows Media Player.
Many thanks for all your suggestions.
