You need to change the audio type in VideoStudio, not the dvd player. Change them to either pcm or ac-3.
Burn a new dvd and try again.

I don't use VS so I may be wrong. Have you checked the Ulead tutorials on VS, otherwise you'll have to wait for someone who does use VS to let you know. Sorry!!

Matrixman, you are correct that when you choose 'mpeg-2' as the format, you are presented with no alternative but mpeg audio. When you choose 'DVD 4:3" you get no alternative but LPCM audio as the default. The idea, though, is to create your own custom template in Tools > Make Movie Manager. For instance, I have 'created' a PAL DVD 4:3 Dolby template, by simply opening the DVD template in Make Movie Manager, changing the audio part of it from LPCM to Dolby, and giving it a new name. The latter then shows up at the bottom of the drop-down menu when you next have to choose a template.

so i should create a new template and to copy the same settings and change the audio type to ac3 or pcm?

The point is, that you can create both under different names! Next time you want to create a video using Dolby, then use the template named AC-3 (or whatever). If you want absolutely correct audio, but in a much larger format that Dolby, then use the LPCM one. (I am not saying Dolby is inferior to PCM -- far from that. It's just that PCM is the standard format, but creates large files. Dolby, on the other hand, is the 'newcomer' [[far from it!!] and creates much smaller but still high quality audio. Be aware though, that the Dolby in VS9 is only two channel stereo, not 5.1 or anything higher.)

Hi matrix man

Yes you should use the Make Movie Manager to create your own templates

Go to Tools / Make Movie Manager

Add

Template name (I use a name that describes the template) like (My pal 6000 var upper DD)

Browse the ‘File path’ box to locate your video file on your hard drive.
Click ok

A template has been created to match your video clip properties.
Select ‘Edit’

Compression tab.

Change the audio format to Digital Dolby
Audio bit rate 256

Click OK
Click Close

You now have a template using your video properties but with DD audio.

When you go to Share Create Video File the template will be in the list above the ‘Custom’ template.

Hope this Helps

Ok matrix man

We all talk Mpeg 2.(a bad habit i feel)

But when you want to capture or create a video file to Mpeg 2 format choose PAL-DVD not Mpeg2.

From Make Movie Manager i assume Mpeg 2 is showing from the Media Type.

Change this to PAL-DVD.

Pal-DVD is mpeg 2
Now change all your settings to match your video file properties.
