Problem with transitions ALBUM in the 9 version

Post by mfalme »

Hello,
I can't customize the ALBUM transitions in the 9 version of video studio.
Is it a bug because it worked well in my 8 version?
I have intalled the last patch without any improvement
Thank's for help

Hi Mfalme.....:)

You should be able to customize them. I don't understand that you can't. Is the Customize options greyed out? If so make sure that you're in the Effects mode, and that the Transistion on the timeline is highlighted.

Is the customize option not there at all? If so it sounds like a corrupt file, which would require reinstalling VS9. However if you purchased the boxed version, just insert your CD, go to Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs>,
you should have the option to Repair..

Transitions ALBUM on VS9

Post by mfalme »

Thank's for your reply. In fact i loaded VS9 to times and try to repair it too
I can access to the panel of customize but nothing is done.
For ex i cn't change the color. An other thing is when i read the clip the transition is read in about 15 seconds, and when i read in the project mode the transition stays fixed like a picture.
I have kept the 8 version which works perfectly well.
I can't understand!

I think Ulead messed up the Album transitions in Version 9. I know I have read here where others have had problems with them. They will work, however forget about trying to preview them.
After reading your post this morning I put 2 short clips I had captured on the timeline and inserted an album transition. I didn't try to view it, just tried to create an MPEG-1 file. The total movie time was about 1-1/2 minutes long, and waited about 5 minutes for the render before aborting. It had only rendered about 20%. I didn't have the time to wait this morning, I had to leave for work.
I haven't tried using them since version 8. Now I mainly use crossfades, direct cuts, or maybe mask and Flashback.

When you reinstalled, you also reinstalled the content packs? That should be where the transitions are..

The Album Transitions are very effective and mine are customisable in VS9 and also in MSP8.

Having said that, as Vidoman has pointed out they are awfully slow.
Whenever I want to include a few I set them up to render overnight.

Hi Ron,
many thanks for your time.
I agree with you. I'll ask to Ulead what they think about

I continue to experience problems with my Album transitions using VS9
when I go back to VS8 the transitions work well. So, there is a glitch
with my computer and the current way VS9 is set up for the album transitions. Other people have experienced the same problem, but they are in the minority. Most VS9 users have good luck with the album tansitions.

Lest it be thought that VS 8 album transitions always worked while those in VS 9 are problematical, those of us who have been on this Board a looooong time will well recall that there were in fact quite a few users who had problems with the album transitions in VS 8. The problems described were very similar, in fact, to those being described nowadays with VS 9.

It seems to me, unfortunately, that on some computers, the transitions work well regardless of the version, on others, they work intermittently or partially, and on yet others, they don't work at all. Not sure what else can be said right now... :(

The curious thing, though, as joosuna points out, is that for those for whom the transitions worked in VS 8, they don't necessarily work in VS 9. This would seem to be down to changes made by Ulead. I happen to be one for whom the album transitions mostly worked in VS8, with a couple of exceptions. And they seem to work in VS9, though I confess that once I started playing around with their settings, the program tended to freeze. So in effect, now I tend to avoid them even though there have been times when I really thought they would be effective but too uncertain to waste time on.
