Audio problem
Hi,
I've been using DVDWKSP2 for a while now and I have mainly had a couple of problems with the video. But just recently, I ran into my first audio problem. After burning my DVD there is a segment that has no audio. When I check the video in DVDWKSP2 it plays and also when I check it in the FINISH stage. For some reason, the audio is not being burned onto the DVD. Have recaptured the section of video and have burned it at different speeds but no luck. Any suggestions as to what might be causing this? The properties are as follows: Compression: PCM, Attributes: 48,000khz, 16bit samples.
Thanks!

SO what you say is all the audio plays when you check the project in WS2, but after burning a small section of audio doesn't play?
Is this section all on one clip?
ie, it doesn't span across a transition or cut between two clips?
It's always the same piece of audio that is missing?
Maybe check it's not only on either the left or right channel and check that your dvd player doesn't only play audio from the opposite channel.

Thanks for responding,
The audio is AVI and I have converted it to WAVE with no luck either way. Yes the segment is on one clip and yes there is a transition between scenes. But I have recaptured only the segment that is giving me trouble and it still has no audio. This always happens. One interesting thing I stumbled upon is that this segment of video will not play the audio on the two DVD players that I have BUT it will play on my Sony Playstation 2! Very strange!

If the sound was recorded as a mono dignal, maybe witha mono microphone, or if by chance the audio was changed to mono left channel only in editing, then the dvd player may only play the right channel and the audio is only left channel, so you can hear it on one player but not another.
Check the audio files in your editing app to see if they are on both channels, left and right or play it on you pc and see if it comes out of both speakers.
I only say this as I once did a dvd for a school, where some orators were stood to the left of the scene, so I set the speeches they made to left channel only.
One of the parents of the children doing the speeches phoned me to say the sound was great, except for when her son was speaking. She asked her friend if her dvd was the same but she had sound when they were making their speeches. She tried it on her playstation and it worked great. Made her husband buy her a new dvd player, all was then great, although I did offer to put the sound on the other channel.

Do you think that I could import the audio into an audio program that I have and correct thisproblem? Or is there a way to change an audio setting when I capture the video footage into DVD workshop 2? Just for your information, I am capturing footage from a mini DV camcorder hooked up to my computer.

This is the most difficult problem that I have ever encountered since using DVD workshop 2 for almost two years now. VERY STRANGE! I must have burned over twenty DVDs trying to get this problem fixed but still no luck. Just for your information, I'm trying to burn a wedding to DVD and the scene were the bride enters and walks down the isle with her father is the scene that is giving me problems. NO AUDIO! Have recaptured with no success. Have captured into Adobe Premier 6 and imported to DVD workshop 2 with no success. Can hear the audio on the tape and on the computer and in workshop 2 also. But once burned to a DVD no audio just at that part of the wedding. Very frustrating! Especially, when it only plays on a sony playstation 2. Go figure. I am at a ltotal oss as to what I can do to fix this problem.

Easy for you to ask questions about things that I'm not familiar with. I'm here in the states and you're in the UK. What the heck is "app"? You mean "application" don't you? Never mind! My mistake for trying to get help to my problem on this forum. I'll figure it out on my own. Thanks for your help, skier-hughes!
I admit that I cannot understand your attitude. What difference does it make where someone is who is honestly trying to help you, giving up his time? Are the people in the UK inferior, in your mind, to those in the USA? And, as you have been using WS2 for "some time", you must surely be familiar with the basic terminology of the business. SH asked you a civil question and you go ranting off at a tangent.

TieFighterBlue,
I'm having the same problem. Glad I'm not the only one. Hopefully we can put our heads together and solve it.
Skier-Hughes:
My audio was not recorded in mono, I have an older Sony VX-1000 which does record in stereo. I also capture from a DV Player not my cam where I can see that the raw footage has both left and right audio.
The reasons I know that it's not the raw footage or the editting process is because I had previously burned portions of the entire movie without this problem. I even tried burning to a DVD Folder with no change in the results.
This is very frustrating and when you're trying solve a problem with little or no help from the software maker it makes you want to scream.
