Pictureshow 4 Error message

Post by NONIE »

Hi, I am attempting to burn my very first Pictureshow 4 DVD. I have tried to burn 3 different times, all with no success . The program stops and I get an error message...."has experienced an error and must shut down". It always stops on (Total Progress bar) 71% and (Detailed Progress Bar) 100%. I'm ready to pack these two expensive programs (I have PhotoImpact 11 also although I haven't had time to try it because of all these PictureShow problems. HELP Someone!

What do you want us to guess first?

What's more, you are in the wrong forum

Gee, I'm sorry. I transferred it to the appropriate Forum. I'm sorry to take your time on this perplexing problem. I hope you had a Happy and Thankful Thanksgiving anyway. Please forgive the error.

Some problems just seem to perpetuate. No thanks to H-O.

Nonie, you are experiencing the problem ALL Ulead Picture Show users experience. Ulead has a patch you have to ask for. Other users seem to indicate that it fixes the 71% problem. If you really want to stick with Ulead, just go thru their tech help page and eventually they will send you the patch link. Or, a good Ulead user (Brayve???) will send it to you. Either way, you have to patch your expensively purchased software to get it to work. I've been this route and refused to put up with the Ulead "Patch when Purchased" software. I now happily use ProShow Gold 2.5.
And, oh yeah, MR. Heinz-OZ, Nonie is in the CD and Picture Show Forum and is using PS. Just which forum should Nonie be in? I may slam Ulead, but this is a place for help, no SA comments from ilk such as you. The hardware details are of no substance with this problem, it is a KNOWN Ulead Problem. Jeez, man, just help the person.

I have just recently started using Pictureshow 4 and have burned a number of DVD's and have not had a single problem with the burning part. I looked up the patches listed on their web site and the latest one is for Pictureshow 2 and 3.

Could it be that they patched version 4 before releasing it? I have had it shut down on me a few times so as a precaution, I close my AIM, MSN, and email programs when using PS4 and since then, not a single problem. I'm very happy with the software. Right now, my slide show is over 40 minutes long and all is working as it should.

I don't think I need the patch but maybe someone else can verify that?

PS3 + Patch = Good PS4???

Post by jpculver »

MaryLou, you bring up a good point. Perhaps if a PS 3 was patched and working correctly and THEN PS4.0 loaded, all could be well. However, if you go straight to PS4.0, you need the patch. I've seen other posts here that indicate Ulost is planning a general release but nothing yet. Still, I wouldn't use Ulost products after my experiences. Glad your's is running well.

But, I do have PS4.0 and as I said, no problems with the burning. I'm sort of afraid to fix what isn't broken. I have had many Ulead products and I never seem to have a problem with them. Not sure why, but I've been using PhotoImpact since about version 4... and am now using version 10 (have version 11 but don't like it)... and they all work like a charm. Have other Ulead programs as well. I must like them because I keep right on getting them! :)

MaryLou, good for you then. If it works and you're happy, DON'T TOUCH IT!!!!! Some think "If it ain't broke, then break it." I don't. My Ulost experiences were just the opposite of yours.
Now, if we could only get Nonie fixed up.
