Load from stream error - thumbnail

Post by arkclk »

I was deleting about 50 thumbnails in VS9 by selecting the first thumbnail and holding shift and selecting the last thumbnail. Somewhere in the middle of doing this, the computer kept clocking, so I shut down the program. Now I have about 50 thumbnails that are blank and I can't get around them. They all say "Load from stream error".

How do I get rid of them?

THANKS

Are the thumbnails on the timeline or the library?

If in the library, why not just go to the Library Manager and Delete that Library? That is unless you didn't create a special library for this project...

I always create a Library for the clips/images/audio/titles that are for the project that I'm working on. Then when I'm done I just delete the library. After all they are just thumbnails...

Thanks much for the help.

The thumbnails are in the library, (I guess) They show up on the right side of the screen although I never set up a special library, so I'm not sure how to delete all the thumbnails. I went to Library Manager but I don't see anywhere that I can delete the library. Thanks again

A piece of data that I left out from my previous post....the thumbnails that were previously present are now gone and there is a white box with an X in it for each thumbnail that was previously present. I deleted the program, reinstalled it, and still have these blank thumbnails.
Thanks

Did you do a complete uninstall?
For information on doing a complete uninstall Read This Post

VS9 leaves alot behind if you just uninstall from the Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs....

Load from stream error

Post by arkclk »

I was wanting to finish a wedding video project before uninstalling and reinstalling VS9, but I can't wait any longer. I took the advice of
vidoman noted below and tried to uninstall VS9, also had to uninstall VS6. After following his instructions and deleting every file I could find, after installing VS6 and VS9 I still have these blank thumbnails with the x in the middle of them. I don't know what else to do to get rid of them. Any ideas? THANKS much!

I figured out a solution that I will post here in the hopes that it may help someone else in the future.

With about 200 thumbnails that all have an X in the middle of a white box, I started holding down the shift key and hitting the delete button. While I had to hit "Enter" a million times when the "Load stream error" came up, I was able to delete 15 of these thumbnails at the same time. With enough deletions, all of the problem disappeared.

Thanks to all who offered suggestions.

arkclk is correct. I simply highlighted a group of thumbnails with the first and last thumbnail be ones that did not have the white-x problem. I responded to each 'load from stream error', ulead did it's common 'not responding thing' and eventually they all went away.

Don't uninstall and reinstall the software.
