Compatability with windows XP media center OS

Post by dtash »

I am not able to install video filters on my new laptop. It has Windows XPMedia Center as the OS. It works perfect on my old, much slower and smaller, computer using XP professional.
thanks,

dtash,

I'm using VS9 with no problems on my Media Center PC. Can you give a little more detail describing your problem? Steps you take, etc.

Thanks for responding,
It runs very slow compared to my old computer. My new laptop has Pentium4 3.4 with 1G of ram (compared to my old computer with a much slower processor and half the ram) What also got my attention is that the video filters will not install despite many attempts and many hours on tech support. Some people have suggested that the systems are conflicting but now I know that is not the case. Also, there are some preinstalled DVD editing programs (Sonic, Intervideo etc). Could that be conflicting? I also need to retry the program on a new computer and see if it is still good. Could something have gone bad with the installation CD?
Thanks,

I'm sorry, but I don't know what to tell you. Have you tried to Google your laptop brand/model and VideoStudio? Perhaps someone with the same system is having the same problems.

I have Sonic, Intervideo on my HP system and I don't have any problems with them and VS, so I wouldn't say it's that either.

support

I have a media center pc and i can do everything but create disc (burn a
dvd) with VS9.. I contacted VS9 support and the answer I got was that
VS9 is not supported on XP media center... do you have to disable any
programs to run VS9 ?

thanks

TonyD,

I haven't had to disable anything to burn DVDs. What type of DVD burner do you have? Maybe that's the problem.

HP

the DVD is a HP branded DVD with light scribe, (Sonic software runs the
light scribe).. When I first added my VideoXPress capture device it came
with VideoStudio8 SE and I didn't have any issues, with VS8 SE.. I started playing around with the media center software and also loaded VS9, and now I can not create a disc under VS9 or VS8 SE.. I assume its a conflict
with MCE, just trying to figure out what I need to do..

patches

I have loaded: Ulead VideoStudio 9 Update Pack (Release Date: 2005/08/12 ).. should I also be adding
CD/DVD Burning Pack (Release Date: 2005/07/27) or is it part of the
update pack ? If not which should be added first ?

thanks

TonyD,

Yes, you should apply the CD/DVD pack as well. Ulead, to my knowledge, doesn't release service packs that roll up previous releases.

If you look under the properties of the dvd writer and look at the driver files you will see Sonic installs a driver.

Sonic's DLA (packet writing software) conflicts with Roxio Drag 2 Disk & Nero InCD AND MovieFactory(4) full install Data-Add including "QuickDrop".

XP runs good until one installs multi-media programs.
As soon as one installs multi-media software packages the computer becomes a custom setup with possible multiple conflicts in hardware & software.

Read about posts by experienced users for "Multi-booting" and running video editing from another copy of windows on the same machine.

I use Brand Name Dvd Writers (Sony).
Very rare to get a write error, usually the dvd media I'm using is the cause.
I gave up on the cheap recorders, not worth the aggravation.

Hope this helps,

MD

disable driver

Post by TonyD »

is it possible to disable the driver for Sonic, on a temp basis without screwing up the pc ? ans starting it back up ? I like to use sonic for the light scribe to label the dvds..

thanks
