DVD creation completes "successfully"...

Post by Andrew-J »

I'm having an odd problem with DMF4. I'm trying to create DVDs out of the videos recorded by my Windows Media Center 2005 PC. I have Service pack 2 and PowerDVD on my PC, so it's not an issue to play them back (I can watch them just fine in media player). I copy the dvr-ms files to my PC, rename them to .mpg, and load them into a project. DMF4 is able to preview them just fine. In fact, everything works perfectly on the surface. On the final screen I choose to create the DVD as an ISO. DMF4 begins the creation process, builds the menu then says that the DVD has been successfully completed. The "creation process" has taken about 15 seconds (it should probably take a couple of hours!), and there's no .iso file in the target folder.

I've tried enabling and disabling "convert compliant MPEG files" in the options menu to no effect.

Does anyone have any ideas? Is this related to the fact that I'm trying to convert from a proprietary MS MPEG format?

afaik, dvr-ms is not supported by Moviefactory. renamin it to MPG may not be also a good idea because dvr-ms contains metadatas.

I was afraid of that. Any idea how to convert a dvr-ms file into a more "standard" mpeg codec? One supported by DMF4?
