Hi all, Im very new here (See http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=8824 for that) and was reading about Smart Composition and have 2 questions:
1. Can u customize the templates with a bmp or png of your own? For example I am now using Premier to do the same by just layering a still image over video with the transparency where i want the action to go. Sample: http://www.extreme-nepal.com/Background ... 0Movie.png
2. Is this feature available during a slide show of stills? Currently i have to import stills and put them on the timeline making all the transitions myself. This feature could save me lots of time if it does all that!
thanks,
jigs

Ulead is working on a Smart Compsitor Designer plugin now, so yes....custom templates will be an option as soon as it's finished.
As far as manually setting up slideshows....have you tried using the Storyboard? Load a bunch of images into the Storyboard, arrange their order then from the context menu choose "Add to Timeline'.
In this dialog you can choose to use straight cuts or transitions, define a default transition or use a random one, synch the images/clips to cues etc. etc.
Once finished click OK and everything goes to the timeline with transitions, cueing etc. all taken care of. Of course once on the timeline you can still make changes.
VERY handy for setting up slideshows

thanks for that!
Well, I get my new box with Ulead on it in just a few hours..I've just been reading the manual but I understand what u are saying.
re: slideshows - NerovisionExpress has the same deal - used it all the time - that type of program works great.
re: templates: But u say SOON for the template customization option. I need that this week. I guess I'll just finish the job in premiere for now...see ya!

I think there may be cross-purposes here. Yes, you can customise the existing templates. In fact, they are very flexible. You take the template into the timeline, after doing some initial customisation in the SC window. You can then double click on it and a new timeline opens up which gives you even more control.
The template generator is to make new templates from scratch; it is very powerful but not yet ready for distribution (no time scale available). The generated templates can be shared (sold) between users but complex ones involve big files.

I'm still patiently waiting for the Designer Plugin. I hope its sooner rather than later!! Hopefully by March 2006? You guys think it'll be out by then? Templates to purchase would be great too.
