Yeah I did not make that clear - my point is it takes a lot longer to do the rendering (in this case avi to Mpeg2)than it takes to burn the DVD.....but even going from multiple Avi's to one long avi seems to take for ever...
At least with ulead you can set and forget for the DVD once the clips are assembled onto the storyboard, and let it do the lot unattended.......as long as you calculate the time correctly.

It seems that you have independently rediscovered the well known Video Studio bug that was one of the primary motivators behind the creation of the "Recommended Procedure" referred to in the top post... One of its purposes is to describe a procedure for avoiding this bug.
