Creating Video File options

Post by Dalana »

I'm using VS9, finished my video of home movie clips and .jpg pics, now ready to create a video file for DVD. Can you explain what 4:3 and 16:9 is? Or do I use "Same as Project Settings" option? Instructions in "help" does not clearly explain what these options are.
I tried to set it at 16:9 and burned a test copy, but my titles are too wide and video and pics have been somewhat distorted and cut off for correct viewing.

Another question: (Probably real dumb), I bought LightScribe DVD+R's (I'm excited to try my new light scribe labeler), but the dvd does not say if it's 4x or 8x. Will this make any difference in the outcome of my movie?
Thanks in advance.

4:3 and 16:9 is aspect ratio.16:9 is wide screen , images will appear short and fat when viewed on a more square(4:3)display.

wow thanks for the fast reply!
This was veiwed on wide screen HDTV, they still looked short and fat. But I will be making copies for other people and not sure what they will use, so which is safest option to use?

I am far from an expert but I would use 4:3.
Do you have to use a "theme" to burn a dvd?
I only have the trial version ,it makes you choose a theme with an overlay on the entire movie.

I can't remember if I actually HAD to, but I chose to use a theme.
