Smart download and web content

I think this is a variation on other problems noted here.

I have a download, licenced version of P11.

When using smart download, it will only look for a modem. As there is not one as I have a permanent connection via a router, it will not connect to the internet to download files. I cannot find a way of changing this preference.

In order to have the additional files, I went to the web site to download and install the files manually, but they will not download.

I should say that my connection is fully functioning and I am using it to send this.

Any help/comments would be appreciated.

When you say "they will not download" could you describe exactly what happens? Does the connection time-out? Do you get an error message?

Also are you using the Windohs download manager or some other utility to download?

They are lot of problems with PI11 and Smart Download.
Check PI11 FAQ.
ULead recommends to download additional components from HERE instead

If it still doesn't work - you may have a trouble with your settings (Router, Firewall, ...)

Hi, thanks for the replies.

When trying to download from the web site I get the timed out error message. I have tried this with two browsers (IE and Firefox) with the same results. I don't see how it can be my connection as I have absolutely no trouble downloading anything else, or getting online with other apps for updates, etc.

If you use cable or some other dial free internet system, then log onto the internet first. Then use smart download. If the dialler appears just clear it. Good luck

Hi thanks, I am logged on permanently and can use the internet while PI11 tells me there is no connection!

I have found that by being persistent I can download the content from the web site, which I have now done.
