Unable to capture vid on VS9

I keep getting this error message. I have done the tweeks. Another program I have that came with the burner works OK.

I just bought this today and I cannot get the darn thing to capture from my camera.

Prior to this I was using a version 5.0 that came with the firewire card etc and never had problems.

Any ideas, I bought it over the net today and just registered it.

This may be due to Windows Installer.

I am running my pc without Windows Installer 3.1.

Just out of interest:-
Is your operating system Win 2k?
Do you have an Ati capture card with tv tuner?

Well, I have changed windows installer over to 3.0, I have downloaded new Direct x 9.0, I have downloaded like 700mb of upgrades and stuff like that 360D thing .... I have had enough!

It still doesn't work.

Yet, I my old 5.0 works, my Nero program that came with my burner works.

This is disgusting. And judging by other posters around this forum , common.

I am not a PC guru, I have no idea about capture cards and stuff. I bought a firewire card and fancy lead, fitted it and bingo, I'm in business till I bought this lemon.

The firewire card I bought is Belkin and came with ulead 5.0 and some other stuff.

I have a Sony mini DV camera DCR-TRV15E camera, everything else works fine except this new VS9.0 program ... and that's only on the capture.

Trevor, I know your trying to help but I dont think I'm as lucky as you were to get it going ... I have sent a thingo off to the techs but I'm pretty certain the service will be poor from what I have seen around this board.

Anyone has ideas I'm open to it. I have a pentiumIII 833mhz with 512mb ram and 30 gig HD, it's plenty for what I do and has never been a problem with other programs.

Uninstall 'windows Installer 3.0'

See if it works

If not re-install windows installer.

I deleted it, and a few other things and ##### me it works now.

So what happens if you dont have any of those Windows Installer things on your PC???????

What a friggin nightmare this has been.

Hi Ekka
I don’t know exactly what function ‘windows installer’ has.
But without you will not receive the ‘Automatic Updates’ from Microsoft.

After about a month, either re-install Windows Installer to get the auto updates or visit,

http://update.microsoft.com

Which should scan your pc to identify what updates are outstanding.

Others on the forum will have a better understanding of Windows Installer.
