Audio Problem

Post by jmarchi »

I have a 45 minute or so video i'm trying to put on a DVD it's an AVI file originally encoded with divx 6.0. All procedures go fine burning it to the disk, however the audio cuts out in the finished product after 34 minutes every time. I've tried buring it, making an iso file, but the encoded file every time has the audio absent after about 34 minutes. The audio is fine on the original .avi file

Run a search on this forum for DivX, get yourself a cup of coffee, and peruse the posts returned by your search.

I'm sure, after digesting all that you will come to the conclusion that DivX and DVD don't mix.

I've encoded the same files in Nero Vision and the audio comes out just fine, but it doesn't in DVDWS. ??

Most likely, your DivX file has a glitch... some type of defect at the 34 minute mark.

The Ulead codecs seem to be rather intolerant. It's not unusual for a file to play-back with no apparent defects, yet Ulead will choke on it when trying to re-code or re-multiplex.

And like heinz says, lots of people have of frustration trying to make "regular" DVDs from DivX files.

Luckily, Nero is working for you... So, go ahead and re-code to MPEG-2 with Nero and then use Workshop for authoring, if you wish.
