PI7 Pop-up/Drop-down Menu & Netscape Compatibility

Post by samsam »

Hello,

I am using PI7 to make a website. I have used pop-up menus and roll-overs. I have noticed that they only work on Internet Explorer and NOT Netscape. Why is this????? This is rather frustrating!

If someone is using Netscape to view my site they will be unable to navigate this website at all. I wish I had known about this issue before I made the website! It would be corny to post on my site "this site must be viewed with Internet Explorer".

Is there a way in PI7 to fix this?? Or do I have to open the html file into an editor to change it?

Also, is the a PI version that does support IE and Netscape browsers???

Thanks for your ideas!!!

Wish I had better news. The coding that PI generates for webpages is IE compatible only, so if you are proficient at coding, better to do it yourself and only use PI for layout ideas and creating the actual graphics for your website.

Why would Ulead only make the PI scripts compatible with IE??? That's too bad.......

I do know how to add scripts into an html editor but I'd rather not spend the time doing it.

What other programs do you know of that creates roll-overs & menus like PI that work in IE and Netscape?

Thanks!

I agree that this is really frustrating, but you also have to remember that once upon a time IE was the browser of choice (and still is) for many people. Personally, I'm a Firefox user and will continue to be. IE is actually buggy when it comes to rendering CSS correctly.

As far as scripts, either I've learned to handcode them or I've used the scripts that generous people have written and can be found at Dynamic Drive. I'm not a coding wizard, so I try to keep them to a minimum. If you are interested in CSS driven menus, there are tutorials on the Net for those as well.
