Fantasy Warp, Ulead Particle, and the other one

Post by grannyestee »

Hi there. Please, I had these pluings installed in a previous hd, and they worked fine. I just tried to installed them again in a new hd, but I cannot get the installation programs to open up. I'm using xp, but I do not have all the update packs installed.

Is there a reason they are not installing. Do I need to do something special to install them. I have Cool 3D installed.

Thank you for your help. Please, I need help right away, in order to finish a job.

What program were you installing? Can you give us the screenshot of the error message that might appear why it's not installing? :D

Hi, thanks for the quick reply...

I'm trying to install Ulead Fantasy Warp, Ulead Particles and Ulead Art Textures. I downloaded the exes, and when I click on them, it shows the temporary file opening, but the actual installation screen does not open up and then nothing happens. I don't understand why, because I had then installed before. I have a new hard disk, and did not download all the new service packs for xp, I simply hate them. Is that why it's not allowing me to install these programs?

Thanks.

? What other image programs do you have installed besides Ulead COOL-3D? Do you have PhotoImpact, GIF Animator, Photoshop, or anything similar?

Those Ulead plug-ins you are trying to install are not stand-alone. They just may be looking for a compatible program, like the ones I mentioned above. Note that COOL-3D is not one of them...

Hello Viking, thank you for the reply...

I have many applications installed that use PS filters( PSP, PS Elements, PhotoBrush, and several others) and I had the Ulead filters installed and working on a previous hd. These filters come in a package that is self installing. I just installed them on my laptop and they worked fine. When clicking on the exe files, a screen comes up showing a package being unzip, then a splash screen with the name of the filter and the installer. Every thing works fine.

When I click on the exe in my regular computer, the package opens briefly, but the splash screen and the installer never open up. When I press Ctrl-Alt-Delete, under the Processes tab, the exes show up.

So, the computer is trying to open the installers, but they fail. It happens with all three Ulead filters, and even when trying to install Photoshop 7, which I had not installed this time around. (I just got a new hd). The only thing I can think of is that one of the programs has appropiated some files and are not allowing the filters or even PS 7 to install. But I don't know how to re-register the dlls, or even which ones to register.

Hope all this makes sense. Don't know how else to explain it. Thanks for your interest in helping anyhow. :)

Well, that has me stumped at this point. You say you don't have all the service packs and updates for XP installed? That should be the first thing to do after getting the new hard drive, before anything else is done.

I've got all those filters up and running on mine with no troubles, on Win XP Home SP2. I haven't had any troubles installing anything.

Sounds like you need a home visit from a geek to see what's going on there...

I was afraid you were goint to say that. Well, I think I will brake down and install the service packs and try again. The other solution, of course, is to reformat the drive and start all over. I really need to anyhow, to solve another couple of small problems, I just hate to spend two weeks reconstructing everything.

The funny thing is that when I had then installed before, I never bothered to use them. Now, I can't stand to be without them. Perverse creatures that we are!!!

But, thank you so much Vicking, for trying to help me.
