My first experiences with MSP8 are mixed. Where with the demoversion I managed to render some files with the "official" version today I'm the whole day busy with a simple holiday video rendering in mpeg 2 (PAL 720-576 8000 bitrate variable). the project consists of in fact of two files. One AVI and one MPEG2. Some overlays (png). And Smartsound music.
Used the SC in the beginning middel and end. Total projecttime 27 minutes.
The first time MSP8 started rendering and never finished. That is to say. It got stuck at the point where the program said 00:00 minutes needed. The end AVI file kept growing and growing (with a blank screen) but never finished,
The second time it seemed to work but the part where the second clip (mpg file) should begin was unrecognisable. Only coloured stripes.
Besides that some strange things happens. Like at one time that the audio filters were not available.
It's a great product but Ulead has still got some work to do I think.
I have a 2.7 Ghz Intel PC with 1,5 Mb internal memory and 200 Gb available on 3 different disks. Should suffice I think.

From the very brief description of your system one could deduct that it should be sufficient. Since, in your own words, the trial version worked for you I would hazzard to guess that the problem must be somewhere else.
Did you completely uninstall the trial version or did you just upgrade over it?
It could also have to do with your project settings.
For a start, I would completely uninstall the program, purge all temp files and delete the installation folders (after you uninstalled in control panel
) in all user locations, the current user, the default user and all users "My Documents\Ulead Systems"
If you are comfortable with editing the registry, do a search for all things MSP8 and delete those keys and values also. Be carefull though and, to be on the safe side, make a registry back-up before you start.
