I'm relatively new to PhotoImpact. I've got a digital image that I've used the lasso tool on and want to place in a Publisher document, but when I place the image after saving it as a JPEG, it has a white background. How do I save an image without that white background. I just want the bottle with a clear background. I can't find anything in the manuals to tell me this.
Thanks to anyone who can help.
How to get rid of white background?

You cannot save a jpeg image with transparency. Even if you paste your selection onto a transparent background and save it as jpeg, the background is created automatically.
In order to get the effect you are after, you have to save your image as a gif (gif format only allows for a relatively low color depth) Tga or Png image. Not sure if tiff alows for transparent background.
