Hi there,
I tried to install patch UVS9Full_Patch1_5in1.exe but it wouldn't install. Said that it couldn't find Videostudio 9 on my computer, but it is off course installed??
Can anyone help me??
Thanks,
Martin

Which version do you have installed? Check the 'About' box in the help menu. Also, I only find 6 in 1 or 3 in 1 patches, no 5 in 1. There are patches for the SE versions and different ones for the boxed or ESD versions. If you downloaded the wrong one, it will of course not work.

Hi Ken, you beat me to it while I was editing my post. You are, of course, right with what you say.Ken Berry wrote:I think Heinz was meaning 'what version of VS 9' you have installed, since we know you have VS9. But is it followed by SE? If so, then the patch will only work with the Full version of VS9 and not an SE version.

I would not go as far as calling it a "Not uncommon problem" with Ulead. It may be quite common with Ulead users but is usually, though not always, caused by people not adhering to given instructions.PeterMilliken wrote:Martin,
Search the board for similar posts (and possible solutions) - this is not an uncommon problem with ULead.
Depending on which version of VS9 is in use by Martin, full boxed version, SE or ESD, he will have to download the relevant patch. The other patches won't work with his version.
ULEAD don't make it easier for us by not having a "one fits all" approach, but that's the way it is.

If you are using a downloaded version it should have the ending ESD behind the version number in the 'Help' menu under 'About'
Go to the download page for the update patches for VS9 here http://www.ulead.com/tech/vs/vs_ftp.htm If you still only see the one patch there, you may need to reload/refresh the page. There are definately more than one patch listed.
Download the patch that states "for boxed or ESD versions"
Good luck

Martin,
I have an ESD (upgrade) version too and it doesn't have anything special after the serial number or the version number to signify that at all.
The important thing here is that there is only one version of this particular patch - so in this case "one size does fit all"
I still recommend that you search the board for people/messages with similar problems and see what solutions (if any) worked for them.
For example, at one stage with VS8 (upgrade) you HAD to keep the earlier version that you upgraded from on your harddisk otherwise patch installation gave the error message you complain of - I believe that ULead came out with a "fix" for this problem in one of their VS8 patches - but personally I just keep the version I upgraded from installed i.e. I currently have VS6, VS8 (upgrade) and VS9 (upgrade) installed on my computer. If I ever decide I want to recover some disk space, I will delete the VS8 (and most likely re-install the VS6 and VS9(upgrade) because I don't trust ULead to get it right
).
So the focus here is get a solution for your problem, so have a search of the board. BTW, what ESD do you have? Full or Upgrade? I don't think you specified which one...

I'm with martin-wam here heinz-oz - - you must be seeing a different webpage in Australia. Like martin-wam I see only one update patch on that web page and there is no indication of which option of V9 it is for.
There are other patches on that webpage but they are device specific and are not general update patches.
As martin says the V9 update patch is a file called UVS9Full_Patch1_5in1.exe although it is not actually labelled as that on the webpage you quoted.
and no matter how many times I refresh or re-enter the URL it still comes back the same.

OOOps, should have read your every post before I jumped. I do believe now that we are, in fact, looking at the same page. And yes, there is only one general patch for VS9, the others are device specific patches. Sorry for misreading your post.
That, of course, does not get us closer to solving your particular problem.
Back to the drawing board I guess. I'll make some further enquiries and come back to this later.
