Here're the steps:
1) WDM drivers are installed and show up in the capture source.
2) Fuji Hi8 Camcorder connected to the BFG 7800GTX Video card via S-Video connection (Video card connections: Dual DVI-I, HDTV, VIVO)
3) Error says that there was no video captured and that the source may not be connected or no input signal. Something like that.
I've tried about all the combinations of source, capture, etc., in Tools and Capture Options, but still nothing. Can this actually work?
Thanks much.

Ken, that's a legitimate question. The BFG 7800GTX is also a capture card, which comes with an HDTV Dongle plus and an S-Vid in and out dongle that plugs into the back of the card. Tech support confrimed that teh card is able to capture S-vid in from a camcorder, but that the software used, which was bundled with the card (VS9SE), would need to access it.
Here is what is has: Dual DVI-I, HDTV, VIVO
I have now put that information in the original post.

OK -- I stand corrected. I have now Googled the card and see that it comes bundled with VS 7 SE DVD. Just as a test, have you ever installed that software to see if it will capture with that? If it works, it could at least provide a work-around -- though one would normally expect that if an older version works, why not VS9? But there are one or two bits of hardware out there which have come with a specially modified version of VS which specifically works with that piece of hardware, so it might be worth trying...

Did you install the WDM capture drivers in addition to the ForceWare drivers? Without the WDM capture drivers, no capture device will be detected...

I'm not sure if these work with 7xxx series cards, but they are the latest WDM drivers available on NVIDIA's website.

Yes, I did that. In the Capture Source settingts, it shows the nVidia universal capture driver. It's actually version 2.20 for all cards other than GF 6 series. Check it out and see what you think: http://www.nvidia.com/page/search.html? ... leanMode=0THoff wrote:Did you install the WDM capture drivers in addition to the ForceWare drivers? UPDATE: After some reading, i've found others having this WDM problem also with teh 7800 series nVidia chip. It seeems that nVidia doesn't have a WDM driver for this card, even though alll 7800 cards come with VIVO. Isn't that sweet marketing? Tell everyone how sweet your new VIVO cards chips are, and then don't offer the driver to make them work. hahahaha.
