Selecting entire scene

Post by cswimm »

I am having trouble selecting all objects in a scene and trying to rotate/position them all. I normally select Group, them select Orientation and use the mouse to rotate all selected objects. Every time I try this now, the Group is deselected and control returns to the last object added to the scene. It seems that the last object I have added wants to always be the center of attention - how can I control all objects as one?

Hi CSwimm :)

I just tried what you're suggesting and works fine.

1. Are you using the Object Manager to select your Group?
2.If not open up the object manager, View>Toolsbar Manager>>Object Manager.
3. Now in the Object Manager, Click on the Group +/- to close it.
4. Now select your Orientation tool, and rotate it.. It should rotate all objects in that group together..

Hope that helps :)

Selecting all objects

I did just as you confirmed, which had been working before, but when I added an additional object today I could not manipulate all objects. This is very odd. I was working on a different machine when this problem occured but I was using the same version of 3D Studio. I will try tonight on my original machine where this was not an issue.

Thanks for your help

What you are describing just happens with this software. COOL3D will deselect the group unknowingly to the user. The only way to know that it does this is to look in the toolbar and see if group is not in the object list. Also when you have a group and want to move or rotate the entire model it is best practice to select an area away from the model and look to see if group is still there, then proceed with your desired action. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your advice. I got around this problem by locking everything except the sub-object I wanted to edit.
