As a Videstudio 9 user I received an Ulead emai with a discount offerl. I paid and downloaded the product.
Now the program asks for a serial number from Mediastudio Pro 7??
Anyone else has had this problem?

Jean-Pierre

I guess you have bought what is called an "Update version". You can only install these if you ave a qualifying product. It does not have to be installed in most cases, but you need to be able to point the installer program to the location of the "setup.exe" file of your qualifying product.
What did you buy?

I think I got the same email...
Upgrade to MSP 8 for only $249, instead of the $299 for VS9 users....
I guess it's a good thing that I can't afford it right now...I really want to upgrade/purchase MSP 8, but I was skeptical that due to the price, it would be looking for an earlier version of MSP...

You don't need an invitation by email to get this upgrade offer. It is open for everyone at the Ulead site.
What does the email have to say about this special offer? Since it seems to be aimed at VS9 users, I cannot imagine it to be requiring a previous version of MSP. I don't think there are different upgrade versions around either. They may be priced differently but be essentially the same program.
I don't have VS9 and have not yet purchased MSP 8, so I cannot check the procedure. having said all that, I find it strange that the install program is actually asking for a serial number of MSP7. Serial numbers have nothing to do with it.
Having VS9 entitles any user to an upgrade to MSP8. Since VS9 can be upgraded, all that should be required is to have VS9 installed on your system (installer will find it automatically and install MSP) or, if the installer cannot find qualifying software installed, it will ask for the location of the setup.exe file for the qualifying software.
Could you please give us some more details about how you went to install MSP and, if possible, a screen shot or the exact wording of the message you get when MSP asks for the serial number of MSP7.

Sorry, that's not how I read that one. For VS 9 users, if you go to the upgrade page from VS9, the page asks for a VS serial number. When you go to the update policy page of MSP 8, it clearly states that VS 9 qualifies for the upgrade. The prices are the same.vidoman wrote:On their website the $249 upgrade is for MSP users, and $299 for DVDWS & VS9. The email is offering it to registered users of VS9 for $249, until Nov 30th..
Be that as it may, there surely won't be any differences in the program itself.
No Heinz, the e-mail gives a link that does not take you to the usual Ulead Mall page, but a special offer until Nov 30. In GBP it's 99.99, that's about EUR 135 . It is only for VS9, no other version.heinz-oz wrote:Sorry, that's not how I read that one. For VS 9 users, if you go to the upgrade page from VS9, the page asks for a VS serial number. Still I'm not sure because the update of VS is 25 GPB, while the MSP update for MSP users is now 120 GBP.
So it looks to me they give you 25% off now, to hook you on a program where the next upgrades will be about 5x more expensive.
It all depends if you really have use of the HD and 5.1 possibilities. Otherwise the difference (moving path, customization etc) are not worth the rather steep price markup.
