Cutting out with "Lasso" tool PI8

Post by rjg »

After cutting out an object from it's background, how do I cutout additional portions of the background, from within that object. I've tried everything I can think of, but can't seem to achieve success. I successfully performed this operation previously, but can't remember how to now. The only way I can remove those unwanted areas, from within an object, is by using the "Eraser". Can anyone help this "feeble minded".

In the upper left, you'll see the "Mode" panel with a "+" and a "minus." You can add to your selection with "*" , and subtract from it with "-".

Could you give us a screen shot of what you are actually trying to do? It's not easy to understand from your description.

Also, there are other tools available to extract an object from an image. One of my favourites is the masking tool. It allows you paint over the parts of your image you want with white (makes the mask applied clear) and correct your selection with black (restores the mask). After you are done selecting what you want from your image, you turn off mask mode which turns the area you have painted before with white into a selection. What you do from here on is up to you. You can delete the selection, convert it to an object, copy and paste it to another location or another mage. I use it a lot.

Why dont you head over to this site http://www.pircnet.com/. You will find an abundance of tutorials to do, as well as a free beginners workshop.

Have fun.
