Adjusting time duration between still clips

Post by russhodd »

Can anyone advise if it is possible to adjust the timeline / gap between slides when these stills are brought into the timeline. At present they are 3secs. If I can adjust it then I would love to know. Also if there is a way will this also adjust the new time gap thru all my still clips at one click ? I am worried I may have to go thru hunderds of slides and adjust them individually. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Russ :)

If you are using Video Studio 9, this can be done easily
  • Go to File>Preferences or press F6
  • In the dialoge box you will see 4 tabs, General, Edit, Preview, & Capture
  • On the General Tab you can set VS to automaticaly insert a default transition, and which transition that is.
  • Now click on the Edit Tab Here you can set the default duration for your images, audio fade in/out, and transitions.
There are other options that can be set such as saving a project every so many minutes, the default being 10 mins. I always have this set. Undo levels, Playback, etc...

Anyway after setting the default transition time or image duration time, everytime you insert an image or video clip to the timeline, VS will place the transition between them..

Hope that helps...:)

Hi,

When I saw the world "go thru hunderds of slides " I have a feeling you are using video studio to make a slide show. If this is so you may consider using the movie factory instead. If not, follow the other gentlemens advice . You can always drag the right handle of the picture to any length you like or simply change the time in its edit box. Here is a tip to having a perfect picture on a 4:3 screen. The result is a picture that is sharp, clear , no gitters etc.

Crop your image to one of these samples. The results for each are the same (720 pixels x 534 pixels std. NTSC DV/DVD format).

6 x 4.5 at 120 dpi.
6.261 x 4.643 at 115 dpi.
5.76 x 4.272 at 125 dpi.

Each of these and many more will give you a picture that is 720 pixels by 534 pixels which is the stantard NTSC DVD format. If you use PAL that is different. I have seen some believe you need to have a higher dpi but it is simply an over kill. Try one of these and you will see. Hope this may help in some way.

Video Studio 7.5 SE
Movie Factory 2.5

Old stuff but works fine for me.
