M F 3 SE & M F 3.5

Post by askgus »

I got a piece of hardware called DVD Express and it came with Ulead 3 SE.
After installing the hardware and software . I found that the SE version would not recognise the hardware. I went to ULead and discovered a Download patch for SE . After I installed it It worked for a while. Then when burning a DVD it would just freeze up. requiring a reboot.
As I also have MF version 3.5 I thought I would try it. You guessed it It did not recognise the hardware either. This time on Ulead Support section I could not find any mentionof Version 3.5. So why is it not listed?
I am not stuck as the hardware also came with a very simple program called Captive Wizard which records my videos but has no editing features like Movie Factory is supposed to have.
Any comments

DMF 3.0 SE (with DVD Xpress) has a capture plugin in the Advance Settings of the Capture window. You need to change the capture plugin to "Adstech USB2 Capture Plugin" or something like that.

For DMF3.5, it wont be able to support your capturing device but it has special support for Dual Layer burning. all DMF3.5 are SE/OEM versions and mostly bundled with Dual Layer burners.

For MovieFactory 3.0 Full, you can burn DL DVDs after you have installed the 300P01 and the DL patch from their website. after the DL patch, the DVDMF.exe's version will be 3.5.

The only advantage of the "DMF 3.5 SE" over the "DMF 3.0 Full with DL patch" is the EXPORT MOVIE tool which allows you to convert video files to another format.

If you can't get Movie Factory to capture, you can capture with the special software that's made for your hardware. Then, you can edit the digitized video, and author a DVD with Movie Factory.

I use several different programs for cpature, video editing, audio editing, DVD authoring, CD creation, CD/DVD labels & artwork, etc., etc., etc.
