DMF 3 not responding when burning or erasing

I have been using dmf 3 for a year with no problems. All of a sudden when I tried to erase a disk and it acted like it would not recognize the dvd burner. It ended up locking up and saying not responding in task manager. I tried using a new disk to make my dvd but when it went to the last page to burn it locked up on me again like it could not find the burner. If I put a movie in the burner it will play just fine.

P4 1.7
1 gig ram

Have you added any other new burning software? "Packet writing" software such as Nero or Roxio can cause a conflict.

If you have other burning software, "burn" you project to your hard drive (DVD folders) insetad of to a DVD. Then, try using the other burning software to copy to a DVD.

Maybe something's simply gone wring with the burner???

I have not made any changes to any of my burning software. I tried making a dvd with sonic dvd and it worked fine. I also tried erasing a disk with nero and had no problems. I was going to try removing dmf 3 and reinstalling it but I couldn't find my disk. Any other suggestions?
