Have been using VS since version 5 and finally progressed to fooling around with audio.
My questions is after splitting off the audio is there a way to re-join it to its clip? Reason I ask is I would like to adjust the clip audio plus also use the two regular tracks for souns effects.
Lay the video in the video track of the timeline, and the audio in one audio track. Make sure they are synchronised.
Now SHARE - CREATE VIDEO FILE. Render the project to a file (I prefer avi, especially for repeated rendering; others use mpeg).
Now find the newly created file. This has the sound in it. Lay this in the video track of a new project. You have 2 audio tracks available for sound effects, voiceovers, etc etc. Once you have laid them all out you can go to the SHARE step again and create another video file, with the lot.
Not sure if I completely understand why your doing it that way whicks - is it because you wish to manipulate the sound track of your original video - if so then it sounds as though you are not using version 8 - in version 8 you can adjust the sound levels in both video tracks and both sound tracks independantly of each other.
Thanks for the info guys. I was mainly curious. It came up in a recent project where I was rubber banding out a couple of words based on visual cues. I eventually did it but was just wondering if there was a split command why I couldn't find a re-join command. This group is super.
