Pixilated frames in created file

Post by ulead83 »

Since I upgraded to a high end computer I have been having problems using media studio 7. When creating a video file (DV Video Encoder--type 1) with video editor, the file will be created, however when playing the file, there will be several single frames that have no picture in them only colored dots. These frames are in the new file even though they were not in the original material. If I try again to create the file a second time, it too will have bad frames but not at the same frame location as in the first file. Does any one have any ideas? Comp ( 3.2 g HT, have both sata and pata HDs), Thanks

Before saying anything we need to know what service packs/patches, if any, you have instlled in MSPro 7 and what version of Windows and DirectX you're using.

Thanks for reply. It is MediaStudio Pro 7.01. I don’ t think it has any service packs. It has DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904). It worked ok before I upgraded from a 933mhz to the 3.2g. with ATI X600 Pro, 1G DDR RAM.

Version 7.01 means it has had the first patch (Service Pack 1) applied.

You're in luck. Service Pack 2 has a fix in it for corrupted frames when using DV files with a hyperthreaded processor.

I strongly recommend you apply Service Pack 3, which has the cumulative fixes of SP1 and SP2 as well as many new fixes.

Or you could follow the Technical FAQ for MSP7 prior to Service Packs 2 & 3.

Question:
I found some corrupted frames while rendering my video into DV type-1 AVI on my new Pentium 4 FSB 800 Hyper Threading machine. How do I resolve this problem?

Answer:
Please try the following steps to avoid this problem.
Install the latest MSP 7.01 update patch.
Download the .vio file (ftp.ulead.com/Silent/Uvavi.vio) and replace the original file into the folder below.
C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead MediaStudio Pro 7.0\vio

As Terry has suggested, SP 2&3 include this new improved uvavi.vio file and the original file will be overwritten upon installation.

Thanks again

I tried the service packs and even the Uvavi.vio file but problem still occurs. I also downloaded the trial of media studio 8 and installed it. I then tried creating the file using media studio 8 but as it starts creating, a window came up saying "unspecified error [ 17113:4:2 ]. Any thoughts? Thanks

I suggest you uninstall all proggies to do with video, delete all residual files and directories. Preferably delete all refs to all of them in the registry (back up first!). Then re-install.

I had exactly this problem in MSP7.01. The best solution was to turn OFF hyper-threading.
Other than this, the 7.01 "patch problem" seemed to be impossible to get rid of. Uninstall, re-install, edit registry etc. No go. Reformat C: and reinstall everything WITHOUT applying the 7.01 patch, but the 7.02 instead, fixed my problem.
Now I'm running MSP8 and all is good.
Cheers,
Arnie.
