VS8 supplies AVI's for titles etc. I want to use one called 'the-end01.avi' which is like grains of sand falling to form the words 'the end'.
If I run this as a clip, it works fine, if I run it as a project, it loses some pixels - black squares appear and disappear. These are always in exacly the same places. It occurs in a test project, with no other video.
I thought it might just be that the s/w was taking short cuts to run in real time, but the task manager shows the CPU is never spending mroe than 25% on this task.
I tried rendering it, and the dropped pixels also appear in the mpg file.
Any suggestions ?
Peter
The case of the lost pixels

Have I stumped the world's experts ?
Could anyone replicate this problem, or is it my machine ?
Thanks,
Peter

I just replicated what you are seeing, as you said you only see it on the rendered video but i just ran the.avi through and they are on there but they are not able to be seen at full speed have a look at these frame numbers in the .avi version
frame 0:00:08 4 squares
frame 0:01:08 1 squares
frame 0:01:24 2 squares
frame 0:02:12 1 squares
frame 0:00:08 4 squares
frame 0:01:08 1 squares
frame 0:01:24 2 squares
frame 0:02:12 1 squares

Hi Peter
Ok I have found the file, didn’t think of looking in the 3D video section.
I played the video using Power Dvd, Real Player, Windows Media Player and Quick time but could not see the ‘black squares’ you describe.
What I did see was an annoying pulsation of pixels within the text.
There were about 6 in all throughout the video.
When trying to play the clip in Video Studio the pulsation was still apparent.
Reducing the ‘Playback Speed’ to about 36% extended the duration to 8 seconds.
I preferred the slower approach.
I tried to render to Dvd Mpeg 2, I was not impressed with the results.
All the Best
