test drive and patch

Post by Ken in Seattle »

I have Movie factory 4 and wanted the ability to add different mp3 files to slide shows. I downloaded the test drive of pictureshow after reading the prose from the marketing gnomes...

So I got the crash n burn pattern reported here. After looking at the test drive pict show and finding the limitations the droids did not bother to document for the test drive as well as the myriad ways to crash the thing, I uninstalled it.

If the patch is usable for the test drive it might be a good idea to pre apply the patch or at least make it available with the test drive since I and probably all potential customers, will avoid looking to ulead first in the future.

Also note the uninstall of pictureshow does not remove whatever broken dll causes the crash on burn, no iso file and media error messages. It also transfers the same behavior to the Movie factory install. I had to use a windows restore point to get functionality back to Movie factory.

As someone who has worked in the software dev industry, I can only imagine the conditions and pressures under which this piece of crap was released to the public and I am pretty sure the situation is not likely to improve.

If crap creep works its way upward into the more expensive products, I can predict a downward spiral similar to some of those in 2001.
