I have an F drive rather than an C drive. When I tried to run the trial version of Video Studio 8 I got the error message 'Drive C: must be a hard drive for Softwrap to correctly register'. I then used subst to create a virtual C drive
mkdir \Virtual_C
subst C: \Virtual_C
When I try to run the software now, I get the error message 'Could not open handle to Drive C:'
Can't run trial version of Video Studio 8 because no C drive

This issue has come-up before...
Apparently this is an anti-piracy "feature" of the trial version. I don't know if a work-around exists.
If it's worth the trouble to you... you might have to temporarily re-configure your system, or try it out on another system. (I assume that this is no big deal to someone who has a customized system with no C-drive.)

The problem is that if his F: drive is the system drive, then Windows won't allow it to be reconfigured, and in particular, it will definitely not change the drive letter... I had this problem recently and inadvertently created the system disk on H: drive. The only way around it was to do a complete reformat and reinstall of Windows (plus everything else, of course!!!) Anyway, I suspect his only alternative would be to try out VS on another system.
