Auto Music - Video Studio 9

Post by Winifred »

My smartsound files are not functioning within Auto Music, no sound at all. I have been in touch with Smartsound and downloaded their update, they also sent me the Full Spectrum 22K file - no luck. I have done a clean uninstall of my electronically downloaded version of Video Studio 9 and bought a boxed version which I am now running, still with the same results. (I thought it might make a difference). I know this problem has crept up on the forum before, but can anyone help?

The problem began when I realised I only had two smartsound tracks (in my old VS9) which played okay - and got in touch with ULead, who told me to download the Smartsound update, which I did, then they said it was my version of VS9 (must be missing some components) and sent me a link to download another one, the link didn't work after taking 12 and a half hours to download. So I thought I will buy a boxed version, but this is behaving exactly the same way.

I am now at a loss.

Hi

First of all how many auto music tracks do you see in the Music list, two or many?
If you only have two do they play?
If yes!

I don’t know if this will work but is worth a try and should do no harm.
Within the install folder for VS 9 should be a folder called ‘Smartsound’

This folder should contain two files

Quicktracks.exe 9.4Mb

Full Spectrum 22k.exe 82.5 Mb

Double click the Full Spectrum file to install.

All the Best

Hi

There are 13 music tracks showing in auto music. If you click on the folders file in Auto Music/Smartsound Quicktracks in VS9 window it shows that Full Spectrum 22K only partially installed.

Previously I had two tracks showing and they played. I bought Charlie Hills Book Getting Results with VS9 and one of the exercises involves Auto Music track "Kickin Back", of course I couldn't find this and that is when all the trouble began. I wish I had left things alone, at least I had two tracks that worked.

From then, I have got new software which installed the 13 quicktracks mentioned above which didn't work and so I downloaded the new files from Smartsound and still no luck.

I wll try your way of downloading the files and see what happens.

Hi Wyn

I see 26 auto music tracks in the 'auto music library'

I can only assume your 'quick tracks’ are not installed correctly.

Re-running those files should work but the ‘only partially installed’ message is a bit strange.

The ones that are installed ---do they play :?:

If not –have you checked your pc’s audio properties to ensure that volume channels are not muted.

Hi Wyn,

Have a look at this post, it details how to delete and reinstall Smartsound, you will need to scroll down partway through the entries.
I had problems with no Auto music in VS8 and this fixed it.
Good luck.

I noticed last night that although in Add/Remove Programs version 3.0.2.7 Smartsound was installed, Auto Music in VS9 was showing 3.0.2.6. So I then deleted Smartsound Plugin 3.0.2.7 in Windows Clean Up Installer, deleted it from Add/Remova Programs. Deleted Smartsound Software file from Program Files, deleted all lthe quicktrack libraries in applications and Full Spectrum 22K in Automusic library in VS9. I then restarted my computer, and proceeded to delete all files in folder Document and Settings\your username\local settings\temp - all 2800 of them, except the ones that wouldn't delete (they were in use it said) - I've kept them in the Recycle Bin in case they are needed and wiill leave them there for a while, not sure what they do. I digress - I then downloaded the Full Spectrum 22K file frm the link that Smartsound had sent me, and hey presto IT WORKS can't believe it - I now think I have cleared my present problems up and can start working with Getting Results with VS9 book. What will the next ones be I wonder!

Thank you to everyone for your advice, I really appreciate it.

My Smartsound was not working, it just said you need to purchace the music track everytime I tried to use it. I just thought that was the way it was until reading these posts.
My music files showed up in a foledr named "encoding" with an extention of *.BLX. and nothing was in the "sound files" folder. the Full Sptrum 22K was the full 34K long.
I saved the old Smartsound files to a new temp folder. then deleted all of it.
After reinstall from the "smart download" folder file, it still did not work. Actually it was worse, it would not start up at all.
User data.sxl and master library.sxl were missing. I copied them from the the files I had saved and then used notepad to errase the library references as mentioned in the above writeup. and WOW IT WORKS!
