No he doesn't which is why I assume the reply began with a question "Hmm - like what".stindlpeter wrote: To the statement of rwindeyer:

I just slip out the tape when doing this capture, and pop it back in again afterwards. The camera is perfectly happy with this, and all functionality is restored."
It is nice if he wants to change the signal from analogue to digital sometimes and does not see why I have a problem - HE only does this sometimes... And it is nice to know that his camera is perfectly happy with this. I do not know the features of his camera - does he know the features of mine?????
I am currently archiving my 8mm video to DV through may DV camera using Vs9. My DV camera is a JVC.
There is a function in the camera menu to enable input from an analogue source and with the tape out I can capture to DV.
I have not tried it but I think I could leave a tape in there while accpeting input from the analogue camera and I assume it might record it to the DV tape at the same time as passing it thorugh to the computer.
I am not sure one way or the other but I don't see the point of leaving a tape in there doing this because it would just needlessly increase head wear and the content needs editing, so there is no point recording to DV during capture.
Just what is it that you need a tape in your camera for while capturing the analogue source? I am intrigued.
