Using a Wacom tablet with PI10

Post by kingsman »

Anybody out there have any tips on how to get full use of the Wacom tablet in PI? I'd sure like to be able to use things like pressure sensitive brush strokes with it.

I'm using my Wacom GraphireI with PIv8. Hopefully things haven't changed too much in v10 as far as setting things up.

In PI, go to the File/Preferences menu and on the Tools tab under the Tablet settings make sure that stroke smoothness and pressure sensitivity are set to "best." Click OK to close the Preferences dialog box.

If this doesn't help, make sure you have the latest driver installed for your tablet and make sure that PI's Iedit is listed under the apps in the Wacom Tablet in Windows Control Panel. If it isn't listed, just make sure you have PI open when you enter that panel and Wacom should pick it up.

I use the Graphire3 with PI 10. Set up is straight forward.

Thanks Guys,

I tend to be one of those guys who tinkers till he gets it right instead of doing anything else first. Usually this means skipping the manual. Both of you were very helpful.

Ah one other thing I forgot to mention, and I apologize for being really obvious, but make sure your tablet is enabled in the Paint Tool's Attribute Bar.

Right next to the Line icon there's another icon for Tablet. If it has a red x on it, then the tablet isn't enabled. You have to click on it and make your selections and you can really play around with the pressure and transparency options if you open up the the Advanced Tab in the Paint Tool Panel.

You can really create some wonderfully customized paintbrushes this way and when you create one you want to keep, you can add it to your Easy Palette with the click of a button for future use.
