20 Frames per Second Problem

Post by Jon H »

Hi,

I have the trial version of Ulead VideoStudio9. I am creating a simple DVD with no flashy effects etc just a straight copy of my original video file with a simple menu.

My problem is that my original video file is an MPEG4 (v3) and can only be recorded at 20 frames per second. I record this at 6000kb/s and 100%crispness on the control panel.

When I encode this MPEG4 onto the DVD I get a jerky playback presumably since the frame rate is 25 per second on the DVD as opposed to the 20 on the MPEG.

Is there any way to remedy this??? I also lose a fair bit of quality when I playback the DVD and I hoped this was part of the same problem and could be fixed?

Any help greatly appreciated!

VS9 will only handle mpeg-4s with the additional mpeg-4 plug-in which is only available to registered owners of the full version of VS9. Otherwise, I can only suggest you use a third party program (like the DivX Create Bundle or DivX2DVD) to convert the mpeg-4 to DVD-compatible mpeg-2.
