OK, it may be useful if your laptop happens to fall in the tiny compatible list, but $169 for a desktop (again, compatible with very few), when you can get better dual display features and functionality for about half the price with one of the G- series cards from the same maker???? :? :?

Uses:

if you have a primary single head display dervice (as in a laptop or from a mainboard with embedded graphics) but also want to use dual displays for productivity.

As for those G cards: cheap, yes....fast, no.

With this device the display speed is that of the main graphics adapter, which is far more often than not far faster than a G-card....be they the old PCI models or the G-550 PCIe 1x.

Yes, Matrox is now making a PCIe version of the G550, mainly for those productivity oriented users who want the 2D quality of a Matrox DualHead display, including the ability to use their TV-Out, but don't need the speed of a gaming card.

For users who are moving to PCIe they make the APVe. It can use up to 3 displays plus it has SD capture, the choice of SD or HDTV out (you lose SD capture with HDTV out) and it has a triplehead spanned mode.

TH spanned lets you use a 3840x1024 desktop spread across 3 VGA or LCD screens. Loonnnggggg timelines.

Who needs graphics speed for video editing? It's system speed that is important.
