Is there value in upgrading to new media studio 8

Post by petrea »

Has anyone upgraded to media studio 8? Is it something worth doing.
Have been using video studio 8. Any feedback?
Thanks

Wonderful --- if you have the money (significant) and the patience for the rather steep learning curve!! Just bear in mind that MSP 8 is aimed at the more sophisticated 'prosumer' end of the market and may be vast overkill for the average home video maker...

Just my experience with the trial version todate - it really doesn't handle the VS9 project that I am currently working on (even though ULead claim that it reads VS9 project files).

The editor crashes when I load the VS9 project - or rather it loads it OK but when I attempt to preview it then the editor crashes. It also seems to load the clips into multiple video time lines instead of just the one (which may or may not be causing the crash during preview as it is about this portion of the project that the entire thing just keels over).

Since I am attempting to "evaluate" the product because of issues that I have with the current video I am making I must say that I am pretty unimpressed at the moment  I really would prefer not to have to re-do the entire project from the beginning in Media Studio Pro 8 but I might have to...

I purchased MSPro 8 last week. I should have gotten the trial version and played with it for a while first. I do like the way it caputers video from my JVC DV camera. VS9 won't stop my camera when I hit the stop button. I always have to hit stop and then turn off the camera manually. With MSPro 8, it captures correctly and stops when I hit the button.

The major annoyance that I'm having with MSPro 8 is that my history with VideoStudio went from version 6, to 7, skipped 8, then got 9. All the "supplied" video and images that MSPro 8 is looking for are the ones that came with VS 8. I have not found a place in MSPro 8 to remove the reference to that folder.

I do feel that after I get a chance to learn it better, that I will like it.
