Portrait images truncated

Post by uleadbbuserds »

Hi There

I wonder whether anybody has a similar problems and knows of any answer - I have a number of digital images that I want to include into a slideshow in DW2.
Landscape works fine, but portrait images have top and bottom areas 'cut off'.

The images that I am working on are 1200 x 1600.

I've also created an image 576 x 768 and paste/reduced the (above) source image into this size and it still appears too large.

A Heinz-Oz posted on the DW2 forum:
If you keep your images smaller than the maximum image size and use a fill frame to bring them up to full frame size, you would not notice any missing portions.

I can't see "fill frame" is a function in DW2, so can anyone point me towards 'fill frame' in PI(8) or an alternative?

I'm using PI8.

Hi, in PI for example, you size your image to your video standards frame size multiplied by .9. that will give you an image very close to what your TV can display. If you find your images are still truncated, multiply by .85.

Resharpen your image and, the aproach varies depending on which version you use, expand your canvas all around by half the difference between your image side length and the full frame size. That will increase your total image to the full frame size of your TV standard but have a blank frame (color to chose in PI) around your image which should not show up on your TV (overscan)

Since I don't have PI 8, I can't be more specific. In PI 10 I find the expand canvas option in the same area where I do my resizing.
