burning on USB

Post by bnigrell »

I am using a USB burner.
Quality is not very good, although I have followed all the steps of the recommended procedure.

I was wondering if they could be any negative impact with my burner being on a USB 1 ? Could this have affected the quality of the burning ?

I used a 4x speed.

From my limited knowledge base, it's my understand that the data rate transfer is simply not sufficient on USB1 to support successful video editing. I have used a USB2 burner extensively and have had no problems. With most newer systems you can upgrade to USB2 easily.

USB 2.0 cards are inexpensive and easy to place in an empty slot in your computer... I too have a USB 2.0 external burner (in addition to the internal ones in my main computers). I use it with a 4 year old Dell laptop which only had USB 1 built-in slots. I added a USB 2.0 PCMCIA 4 port card and the external burner works fine on that.
