I've used PI 8, 9, 10 in the past and haven't had any problems. I just built a new PC and installed PI 11. The splash screen comes up and then I get the window, "PhotoImpact has encountered a problem and needs to close." The problem file is iedit_.dat and combo.dll. "Faulting application iedit_.dat, version 11.0.0.0, faulting module combo.dll, version 11.0.0.0, fault address 0x00002b1f."
I've tried to uninstall and reinstall and still have the same problem.
Here's my sys info:
Win XP Pro (SP2); 1 GB DDR 400 Mem; 74 GB Raptor; AMD Sempron 3000+; PNY Verto GeForce 6200 256 MB (only running at 4x for stablility); ASUS K8V-X SE.[/img]

I took a closer look at the Microsoft error reporting info and it looks like yours is stopping at the same place mine is. On the bottom of the splash screen you can see a status indication. Mine stops when it goes into the u32ico.fio. When I look at the Microsoft error report and view technical info, it indicates the same module is having problems as yours.
Hopefully, with all the tech support and the knowledge on this forum, we can get this problem resolved.

After looking around on here a little, I saw that there was a handful of others having problems similar to us. One seemed to have it resolved. He didn't have a C: drive like my system. My system has an H: drive for the main boot drive since when Windows was installed it had removable media drives that took precidence. He changed the drive letters on the removable drives and did a "subst" to substitute drive H: with drive C:. Then the problem went away. Well, I did the same thing and my problem went away and a new problem came up. I don't even to the splash screen now. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling to the new C: drive and still the same thing. If I check in the processes, I see iedit.exe in the processes but it just stops there. I'm not sure where to go now. I'm wondering if maybe PI 11 is conflicting with another software I have in my system. I have Roxio Media Creator 7. I know in the past, Roxio 5 would conflict with everything in my system. Anyways, I couldn't find any helpful information about combo.dll. Hmm. Where to go next... I really want to use PI 11...

>>>Hi Linda, Your installation of the program might have been corrupted. Repairing or directly uninstalling it from the Control Panel may not work. Try renistalling the program this way: 1) Launch Windows Explorer and go to tools\folder option\advance setting to check "show hidden files and folders". 2) Purge/delete all the files in these folders: "C:\Windows\Temp" "C:\Documents and Settings\\Local Settings\Temp" (for WinXP) 3) Uninstall PhotoImpact from control panel Add/Remove programs 4) Delete the folder "C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead PhotoImpact 8.5" 5) Reinstall PhotoImpact 8.5. Download and install the Ulead PhotoImpact XL Update Patch 2 from this site: http://www.ulead.com/tech/pi/pi_ftp_pixl.htm Thank you and good luck.
<<<
Now.. my question to him is... this.. I don't have Ulead PhotoImpact 8.5 folder.. I have 2 other folders.. Ulead.drop and Ulead PhotimpactXL.. so do I delete those two first? then do the reinstall? Or just delete where it says Ulead systems?
Thanks, lynda

what I did during reinstall
I couldn't wait for the tech so I deleted just the ulead phtoimactxl..
Then reinstalled the original, but only this time there were two things that I did not include.. did the custom install.. I know that the one was for the photo album and I did not ask it to associate anything with it. After installing it works for now.. and I noticed that for the scanner etc.. it has jasc in there.. so I don't know if anything I did resolved a conflict with maybe jasc psp? or what.. and I will find out when I start using it for an online course that I've signed up for. That was why I didn't want to wait any longer.. Hope that helps everyone some!.. Like I said.. so far, so good, but I've really not been able to play with it much either.
