DVD won't play

Post by almc_13 »

I have tried 3 times now to burn my video onto a dvd. It completes burning and will play on the computer, but it won't play in my dvd player.

I am using Memorex DVD+R dvds. I have burned movies on them using Roxio Easy DVD Copy and they play fine in the dvd player.

My dvd player is Samsung Progressive Scan P231. It has played burned dvds before without any problems. It is not top of the line, but it is has never had any problems before.

My computer is new. It was put together for me by ZT Group. I have a AMD Anthlon 64 3500+ processor, a NVIDIA GEForce 6600, Lite-On DVDRW SOHW-16935 dvd burner, my camcorder is Canon ZR200.

The program is running fine other than that. I am burning the dvds according to the program. I have downloaded 2 patches from the ulead website.

Can anyone help?

What are the properties of the video you are trying to burn? (Right click on the file in Video Studio and copy out the properties.) Have you actually produced a DVD-compatible mpeg-2 first (Share > Create Video File > DVD) rather than going straight from the project in the timeline to the burn module (Share > Create Disc > DVD)? The latter is not recommended.

I will double check and redo it. I think I followed all the steps but I could be wrong.

The project properties box says:

NTSC drop frame (29.97 fps)
Microsoft AVI files
24 Bits, 720 x 480, 4:3, 29.97 fps
Lower Field First
DV Video Encoder -- type 1
DV Audio -- NTSC, 48.000 kHz, 16 Bit, Stereo

I redid the burn after creating the mpeg-2 and it worked. I must not have produced the mpeg-2 first before.

Thanks. :D
